Viking (Catalan base) Bag/Basket Course with Joe Gregory – Friday 14th and Saturday 15th June 2024

Time: 10.00am-4.30pm price: £190

This course is suitable for intermediate and more advanced weavers. Over the two days you will work create your own Catalan base inspired by the Viking long boats of old. From this base you will weave an attractive and distinctive bag or basket of your chosing. Depending on your ability level you will be able to work with different weave patterns.

You will have the choice to add a willow handle to finish this handsome basket off, a leather strap/s or organic hemp strap/s turning it into a beautiful shoulder bag.

I’ve been teaching a similar oval Catalan shopping basket course for a number of years and students always come away with strong, useful and attractive shopping baskets. This is an advancement on from that course and you will learn lots of new skills for your basket making development.

Using the finest English Willows you will work on at least three different types of weaving over the course to create a handsome and instantly useful shopping basket.

The willows tea and coffee shop on the ground floor of the building will be open during the course serving the finest ethical rainforest alliance coffee and teas, award-winning cakes and simple savouries.

Notes:

No prior experience needed but you must have good mobility in hands & feet & be able to stand whilst working.

Please wear old (non dangly) clothes, covered toe shoes (no sandals) & little or no jewellry.
