Oval Catalan Shopping Basket Course with Joe Gregory – Friday 27th and Saturday 28th September 2024

This course is suitable for beginners and intermediate weavers. Over the two days you will learn to weave a Catalan oval base which is a much more simple basket base to learn than an English oval, making it ideal for beginners and intermediates to learn on. If you’ve made baskets before we can look at different weave patterns.

I’ve been teaching this course for a number of years and students always come away with strong, useful and attractive shopping baskets. The addition of a handle is another good addition to your basket making tool kit.

Using the finest English Willows you will work on at least three different types of weaving over the course to create a handsome and instantly useful shopping basket.

The willows tea and coffee shop on the ground floor of the building will be open during the course serving the finest ethical rainforest alliance coffee and teas, award-winning cakes and simple savouries.

Notes:

No prior experience needed but you must have good mobility in hands & feet & be able to stand whilst working.

Please wear old (non dangly) clothes, covered toe shoes (no sandals) & little or no jewellry.
