Coil basketry is a technique used around the world predominantly with grasses as opposed to willow and other woods.
Traditionally honey bees were kept in a structure called a bee skep that was made out of straw.
Using traditional techniques over the 2 days you will learn how to weave your own coiled basket using straw.
These baskets are ideal for proving bread and for making swarm catchers for honey bee swarms.
Because of the excellent thermal storage capacity of straw it is ideal to make proving baskets for excellent homemade bread!
There may even be time I’m over the weekend to make some of our own bread…
