Learn a Craft AT Creative with Nature

Hello and welcome to my website!
My name is Joe Gregory and my business, Creative with Nature, has been running successfully for over 10 years.
Based in Todmorden, West Yorkshire; I teach willow basketry and sculpture from my large Georgian building right in the centre of town.
My business was first conceived after a long illness. I was working from my kitchen table with young children at foot and bills to pay… That seems like a lifetime away now with fully grown children and a very successful business.
My daughter runs The Willows Tea & Coffee House on the ground floor with fabulous award winning cakes and ethical coffees and teas. Creative with Nature runs happily on the first floor, where I have my workshop and classroom space. If you’d like to learn to weave or develop your weaving skills, I run courses all year round.  Just look at the workshops page to see what’s coming up. If you’d like one to one training; organisational training or a bespoke course for family and friends please get in touch. As well as my willow courses here in Yorkshire, I teach across the UK and Internationally.
I hope you enjoy the website and look forward to weaving with you soon.

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the wonderful world of wicker weaving at this charming family-run business, and I can’t stop raving about it! From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted with warm smiles and genuine enthusiasm for their craft.

The owners of this establishment are not only incredibly talented wicker weavers but also the epitome of hospitality. They went above and beyond to ensure that my experience was nothing short of fantastic. Their passion for their art is infectious, and they were more than happy to share their knowledge and expertise every step of the way.

The hands-on learning experience they offer is unparalleled. I was amazed at how quickly I was able to pick up the basics of wicker weaving, thanks to their patient and encouraging guidance. It’s evident that they take great pride in what they do, and their dedication to passing on their skills is truly admirable.

Not only did I leave with a newfound appreciation for the art of wicker weaving, but I also left feeling inspired and uplifted by the genuine kindness and generosity of the family who runs this business. Whether you’re a complete novice or a seasoned pro, I highly recommend paying them a visit. You’ll not only walk away with a beautiful piece of wicker art but also with cherished memories of an unforgettable learning experience.

They suggest as a brake 1/2 way through your day you take a trip around time where they have the sweetest little shops bakeries and markets. They have such a beautiful spot with a beautiful drive to get there.

Such a great day!

Thank you to the wonderful team for an unforgettable time filled with creativity, laughter, and invaluable lessons. I can’t wait to come back for more!

Creative with Nature is a lovely, warm and welcoming space for a wonderful experience learning new skills. Set in a beautiful old building above the café, the workspace for workshops is large, beautiful, light, inspiring and well equipped.

Joe is an expert teacher- really clear, helpful, patient and friendly. She is happy to go over things step by step and wants to help everyone do well, creating something they can be proud of by the end of the course, whilst also understanding the process.

The other teachers I have met here have all also been great. I have learnt so much and developed my skills as a basket maker.

Joe’s expert tuition and range of courses has meant that I have been able to constantly improve my skillset and practice current skills to be able to produce more difficult and also saleable baskets of my own. I have increased in confidence massively through attending courses and have always left feeling equipped to try again at home.

Other courses than basketry have also been very enjoyable here and I have also learnt skills which I can use at home to expand my creative abilities.

The courses are fun, sociable, varied, supportive and stimulating. I love coming to CWN and will be back again and again to keep improving my practice and being inspired to new levels.

Thank you Joe!
