Learn to weave at Creative with Nature
*NEW* WILLOW FORAGING BAG KIT + VIDEO TUTORIAL
I’ve been teaching this willow foraging bag course for quite a while. It’s become my most popular one day basket making course! Sadly I can’t fit anymore courses in my diary this year and I get asked to run it a lot…
With the help of my lovely daughter we’ve devised a kit with a helpful tutorial video so you’ll be able to make your own at home. A limited number is now live, click for more details.

Hi my name is Joe Gregory, I’m a willow basket maker, sculptor and teacher. I started weaving as a hobby in 2004 and by 2008, I realised I could make a living doing a craft that I loved. Starting from my kitchen table my skill grew organically alongside my growing children and my work teaching for the Workers Education Association and as a Forest School Leader.
Over the years weaving with Willow has provided me with the most rewarding career whilst enabling me to keep my family safe and healthy. From 2014 I made weaving my main profession. I teach sculpture and basket making for a number of larger organisations nationally, occasionally internationally and from my own venue in West Yorkshire.
I’ve worked on some amazing projects over the years and feel very lucky to have found this beautiful craft. I am comfortable teaching pretty much anybody from young children to those recovering from serious illness or injury. With the right support I believe weaving is for everyone!
My classes are suitable for beginners to more advanced weavers. I’m proud to be able to say a third of my students are returing students. I’ve helped many people on their journey to become professional and serious hobbists and I’m developing new resources all the time to open up this craft to as many people as I can.
“I love traveling to Todmorden to take one of Joe's courses. I've been on six or seven so far and always had a great time and got a pretty basket to take home.” – Nic Owen, 2024

Creative with Nature is a lovely, warm and welcoming space for a wonderful experience learning new skills. Set in a beautiful old building above the café, the workspace for workshops is large, beautiful, light, inspiring and well equipped.
Joe is an expert teacher- really clear, helpful, patient and friendly. She is happy to go over things step by step and wants to help everyone do well, creating something they can be proud of by the end of the course, whilst also understanding the process.
The other teachers I have met here have all also been great. I have learnt so much and developed my skills as a basket maker.
Joe’s expert tuition and range of courses has meant that I have been able to constantly improve my skillset and practice current skills to be able to produce more difficult and also saleable baskets of my own. I have increased in confidence massively through attending courses and have always left feeling equipped to try again at home.
Other courses than basketry have also been very enjoyable here and I have also learnt skills which I can use at home to expand my creative abilities.
The courses are fun, sociable, varied, supportive and stimulating. I love coming to CWN and will be back again and again to keep improving my practice and being inspired to new levels.
Thank you Joe!
